So So Def rapper Da Brat recently revealed her feminine side in a ‘Summer Chic’ shoot for VIBE.com. The Chicago native, born Shawntae Harris, 37, maintains that despite her usual tomboy style, getting girlie is second nature to her. She could have fooled me! Topless Kelly Rowland Covers Vibe
Kelly Rowland, who is currently riding high on the charts with her single Motivation, covers the August/September issue of Vibe magazine topless! In the Annual Juice issue that hits news stands August 16th, Kelly chats it up about her success overseas, parting ways with Mathew Knowles and sex toy shopping with the girls. Here’s a few excerpts:
VIBE: The last album didn’t do well in the States. It did better overseas, particularly in Europe. Do you feel more appreciated in Europe?
Kelly Rowland: No, not really. People still compare me to B over there. I said in an interview recently, ‘You know, if you guys would be a little bit more intelligent and ask me about myself we’ll have a much better interview.’ You can’t want a story from me and keep asking me about the past.When you walked away from that last meeting with Mathew, did you feel an “exhale” moment?

Vibe has decided to traumatize the world. WTH??? Who does that??? Why would you put a pic of a shirtless Rick Ross on the cover of anything??? Man boobs have not, are not and will never be sexy. I think I just threw up my breakfast… Thank goodness it will be a double cover so we still have someone else to ogle. 50 Cent’s 2 Cents On Face Tatoos
I really don’t like 50 Cent. As a matter of fact, I unfollowed him on twitter when I realized he can be very ignorant. Regardless of how I feel about him, I can honestly say that I completely agree with him when it comes to face tatoos. They are never a good idea. Thankfully Kenyans are an educated lot and would not even think about pulling such a stunt…well, I hope (If you send in pics of a Kenyan with a face tatoo, I am willing to buy you lunch. It has to be a permanent tatoo for this offer to apply

Back to 50 Cent. He recently had the numerous tattoos on his body removed because he didn’t want them to interfere with him getting major movie roles. Da Brat Wants To Glam Up Her Image
I used to love Da Brat. She was such a positive female rapper…until she decided to act out by assaulting some waitress and got locked up for like 3 years. Her music was awesome though. Anyone remember her song :What Do You Like”? That used to be my jam!!! Well, Brat is out although she has to keep on an ankle monitor. Lance Gross Is Single But Dating
I’m a huge Lance Gross fan so I love when he gives interviews that tell us a little more about Lance the man. He was recently voted Vibe Vixen’s #1 Finest Man Alive. Lance spoke to Vibe’s Starrene Rhett and discussed everything from what he looks for in a woman to what it was like being picked on in school. He also shares his feelings on his failed engagement to model turned actress Eva Marcille. The only part I don’t get is how you can be single but dating… I mean, if we’re dating, even though it may not be serious yet, I expect some kind of exclusivity. Or am I just too demanding?

No. I was actually picked on as a kid. I guess in high school it started to change for me. Keri Hilson’s Vibe Magazine Spread
Happy New Year everyone!!! 2011 has started out beautifully for me and I hope the same can be said for you. I took an extended holiday so things have been really quiet on the blogging front. I thought we’d start the year off on a positive note with Keri Hilson. I say positive because to me, she embodies everything amazing about women. She’s graduated from being a behind-the-scenes song writer to an amazing performer. And she always seems to have fun while doing it all. She was on the cover of the December 2010 Vibe magazine and had a gorgeous spread which you can see after the break. In the interview, she said:
“There have been situations where the people you’re around have one vision for you, and it’s like trying on a jacket that doesn’t fit. Someone says, ‘Go out there in this jacket.’ And you’re like, ‘But… it doesn’t fit! Nor is it my style.’ And that’s hard, because these are people who are investing in you, spending their time and their money, but they have a different direction. But you want to—I mean you have to—please them. You have to try it, and hope you are able to turn it around before you’re known as something you aren’t.”

Brandy Spills on Her Love Life
I’ve always wondered why Brandy never seems to be in a long term relationship. Sure , she has been “spotted” with different guys but none of them has ever really lasted. Which is a shame coz she’s very talented and seems like a wonderful person. However, after reading her latest interview with Vibe, I think I may know her problem. Ladies, I know we are always told never to settle. However, having a long, impossible list of qualities you want in a mate is just ridiculous. No one is perfect. Chances are you’ll never find that one person with all the qualities in your list. My advice: if he makes you happy, doesn’t have a criminal record, has no baby mama drama, has a stable job, and has not racked up a boatload of debt, that’s a good starting point. You can always work around the rest

Yeah, it’s multiple reasons for it. We’re in the greatest country ever, in America, so any country that’s foreign to us is gonna not seem homely, especially a place that’s been so fucked over by other governments. Especially a place that seems so poor. The family tree root has been cut here in America. So when you’re talking about going back, you’re talking about a place that people don’t know as their home, and Africans who don’t see us as their people. But we’re their long lost brothers and sisters. There could be so much truth told about that continent that would encourage young people. (more…)
