Everything you always wanted to know…

Vainaina Is Back!!!

Back in a big way. Towards the end of last year, news broke that Valerie Kimani was pregnant with Eric Wainaina’s child. Only problem was Eric is married to Sheba Hirst and has two kids!!! I know…perfect plot for a telenovela. Eric and Sheba had their issues, separated for a while, but eventually, Eric was forgiven and he even agreed to be a responsible dad.

Fast forward to this weekend, the Weekend Star had an exclusive that Eric was demanding for a DNA test on the child. That can only mean two things: either he’s not sure that he’s the father, or he’s not sure that he’s the father. Some of you may not know what a DNA test is. Basically, a DNA paternity test establishes genetic proof as to whether a man is the biological father of an individual. In a DNA parentage test, the result (called the ‘probability of parentage) is 0% when the alleged parent is not biologically related to the child and the probability of parentage typically greater than 99.9% when the alleged parent is biologically related to the child.

Enter Valerie Kimani.

Valerie has refused to take the child, Zion, for the DNA test.

The Weekend Star reported that Wainaina filed the suit on Wednesday at the High court in Nairobi. The suit says Valerie has unreasonably turned down multiple requests made by Wainaina for a paternity test to be conducted. He wants the court to order Valerie to submit the baby for a test at Pathcare Ltd within a set time and if she refuses, he wants her to be ordered to take the child to director of Children’s Services who can then take him to Pathcare. He wants the paternity test before assuming his parental responsibility obligations as set out in the Children’s Act.

“In the event that the paternity test confirms that I am the biological father of the child, I am ready and willing to assume parental responsibility over the child as provided for under the Children’s Act,” says Wainaina. Source

Maybe it’s just me, but I think Valerie is acting funny. The man has decided that he’s staying with his wife. Regardless of whether that fact hurts you, the issue is no longer about you. It’s about the child. In order to ensure the father does right by the child, by all means get the test done!!! That way, the man cannot ruka the kid like we see with many men out here.

On the other hand, the fact that she does not want to take the test can only be taken to mean that she herself has doubts about who the father is!!! To that, I can only say, you have made your bed, now lie in it. If there was any possibility at all that there were other candidates for father, you should have been up front about it from the jump. This is 2011!!! You can’t get away with just choosing or fixing a father. Valerie is making women look terrible. Have the test na kama ni mbaya ni mbaya. Deal with it!!! But don’t embarass yourself, the man and most of all, the kid.

P.S. Why is the kid named Zion? Hizo stunts za kucopy Lauryn Hill utaacha 🙂

I don’t get why she is refusing. If she had been in, say, a come we stay with Eric, for like 2 years, then she has a right to refuse because she might be insulted by the fact that he suspects that she was cheating. But this was a case of hit and run. Can she do the test already?

    • are you for real, cheating . the relationship in the first place was a cheating situation . if val could sleep with a married man without protection then she could so easily be taking it elsewhere. there is no trust in such arrangements. its only proper that w asks for a DNA test.

We are saying the same thing. If Val and Eric were exclusive (assuming Eric was not married) and he asked for a DNA test, Val might take that as an insult. But in this case, she has to do the test since she might have been sleeping around for all he knows.

Well, I heard the DNA test was done and the man must be the DAD since he went totally silent. If he wasnt, he would have given another exclusive to the STAR i bet… You know, using the media to fight Valerie was not the best strategy. Eric Wainiaina only came across as a coward who refused to take responsibility for his actions. He was the married one. I bet he will use the star or some other media/blog to say he wants to be involved in the child’s life later after she has taken all the shit. It is the way such cowards act. She had a chance to go to the media too and give exclusives too. You know what, she didnt… What does that say about Eric Wainaina??? What if someone did the same to his daughter? Would he want them to behave the way he has?

Lol!!!! Maybe they had protected sex and the rubber bust, hence Eric is not sure whether this could have resulted in a pregnancy..this whole story is just crazy, just imagining how they could have been meeting up under the pretense of singing practice.
