Our Top Ten Oscars Red Carpet Looks
Congratulations are in order for red carpet queen Lupita Nyong’o! Not only did she win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave, but she also emerged tops in our top ten Oscar fashion looks this year! Fashion houses were literally falling over themselves trying to get her to pick them to dress her for the Oscars. Lupita chose to go with a beautiful baby blue custom Prada gown with a plunging neckline. Lupita, who has become a firm fashion favourite over award season, said she chose the gown as it reminded her of the blue Nairobi sky. She accessorized with Fred Leighton jewelry. The headband caused quite a few ripples on the red carpet. It remains to be seen whether the headband trend will catch on.
Cate Blanchett, who won the Best Actress award for her role in Blue Jasmine, takes the number 2 spot on our list. She wore an Armani Prive sleeveless nude gown featuring Swarovski crystals. ‘It’s heavy but I love it,’ she told E! She finished off her look with Roger Vivier shoes and Chopard jewelry.
At number 3 is Portia de Rossi whose siginificant other, Ellen, was hosting the Oscars this year. Portia wore a gorgeous Naeem Khan ivory honeycomb-beaded halter gown. She accessorized with Brian Atwood shoes, Fendi purse, and Dior jewelry.
Sandra Bullock comes in at number 4 in a strapless midnight blue Alexander McQueen dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. The 49-year-old actress was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her work in the movie Gravity.
At number 5 is E! Fashion Police host Kelly Osbourne wearing a Badgley Mischka dress, Judith Leiber bag, Solange from LoveGold jewelry, and Aldo shoes. The bolero with gold detail adds instant glamour to what would have otherwise been a simple gown.
Angelina Jolie comes in at number 6 wearing an Elie Saab dress, Ferragamo shoes, and Robert Procop Jewels. While most critics think the dress was a bit too mature, I think it’s perfect and is an amazing reflection of where Angelina is in her life right now. Timeless class.
Charlize Theron comes in at number 7 in a Christian Dior haute couture dress which featured clear straps and a tiered train. She accessorized with Harry Winston jewels and Christian Louboutin shoes.
We have Anne Hathaway at number 8 looking sophisticated in a black Gucci halterneck dress with metallic detail and a slit in the back. She accessorized with Neil Lane jewels.
Kristin Chenoweth is at number 9 looking every bit like an Oscar herself in a Roberto Cavalli dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch, and Neil Lane yellow gold and diamond pin wheel earrings, and a yellow gold and diamond ring.
This is a shocker! Lady Gaga rounds up our list at number 10 wearing a white column Versace gown with a draped scarf, Brian Atwood shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz diamonds. She almost looks normal…well, fabulously normal.
