Tanzanian Born Herieth Paul Covers Elle Canada

Tanzanian born Canadian model, Herieth Paul, is on the July 2011 issue of Elle Canada.  In her interview she talks about her transition from living in Dar es Salaam, her feature in the CK One campaign, closing the show for Lacoste and wanting to be famous for 30 years like Naomi Campbell.

Paul moved to Canada with her diplomat mother in 2007. At the age of 14, the modeling rookie walked into an open-call casting in her hometown of Ottawa, and got herself signed on the spot. Now, the 16-year-old is represented by Women Direct, under the watchful eye of nineties “It” model turned model booker Jenny Shimizu. Flaviana Matata: 2010 Breakout Model

I have said it before: Flaviana Matata is a person to watch. Essence magazine has named Tanzanian, Flaviana as one of the 2010 breakout models. Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2010 collection was as chic as ever, but newcomer Flaviana stole the show. This former Miss Tanzania was one of the most wildly sought after models of the year. Lil' Kim Rocked Tanzania This Weekend

Lil’ Kim was in Tanzania this weekend  for an annual party called Fiesta organized by Tanzania’s leading media house, Clouds Media which owns a TV station and the biggest FM radio in Tanzania. She performed in front of a crowd of 15,000 people. She did all of her hits and was joined on stage by African superstar “Nature na zali”. That thing covering her face scares me. Reminds me of MJ. Upscale Swagger: Flaviana Matata

Meet Flaviana Matata… Born in 1987 in Shinyanga, Tanzania, Flaviana shot to international fame during the 2007 Miss Universe finals in Mexico City where she placed as one of the Top Ten semi-finalists and clinched the sixth spot among 77 participants from around the world. She had won the very first edition of the Miss Universe Tanzania pageant in 2007, and went on to represent her country in the Miss Universe finals the same year. Flaviana made history for being the first Miss Universe contestant to compete with a shaved head. In June 2008, Flaviana left for Johannesburg, South Africa to begin her work under a one year contract with Ice Model Agency. (more…)
