Hot Trend Alert: Boyfriend Jeans
Thank God for boyfriend jeans. Finally we can stop struggling to pour ourselves into skinny jean, and slip on denims that are comfortable, and don’t make us suck our tummies in to the point of passing out. In a nutshell, it’s either literally a pair of guy’s jeans, or a pair of jeans that looks and fits like it was borrowed from a guy – loose fit, low rise, cuffed hems.
If the look is executed correctly, you can even come off looking sexier than you would in skinnies. All you have to do is pick a pair that fits and flatters you and match it with a variety of cute tops. For the desired sexy vibe, boyfriend jeans should be loose but fitted across the hips, and narrow and tapered in the leg. If your jeans are short enough, you won’t need to roll up the cuffs. But if they’re super long, you’ll need to cuff the bottoms. Roll them above your ankles if you’re wearing heels, or just below if you’re wearing flat sandals. Hot Trend Alert: Sheer Lace
I’m super excited about the sheer lace trend that’s hit the red carpets lately. Not every trend seen on the runway gets a chance to shine when the actual clothing season arrives. However, trends always get a popularity boost when celebrities take a shine to it. Beyonce looked absolutely amazing in her sheer white Michael Costello lace gown at the 2014 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center on January 26 in Los Angeles. The next morning, designer, Michael Costello, woke up to more than 400 text messages from friends and family, all sending their praises of the handmade look. “There are three layers to the dress — a white lace, a nude illusion mesh, and another layer underneath it with magical fairies, holding up all the flowers — I’m sorry, I’m bad at dress descriptions!” Costello told Pret-a-Reporter, still in disbelief. “I love to design things that have that element of whimsical, and that element of almost nakedness. I love nakedness.”

2014 Will be Breakout Year for Female Entrepreneurs
For a little January inspiration, let’s take a look at Forbes’ Most Powerful Female Entrepreneurs List released last year. Although I’m a bit disappointed that not a single African woman made the list, I’m still happy that women worldwide are shaking things up in this male dominated world. According to Forbes, 2014 will be a breakout year for women entrepreneurs (and they list 11 reasons why). The number of $10-million-plus women-owned firms increased by 57% — a growth rate nearly 50% more than $10-million-plus firms overall.
On the list was Sara Blakely, (pictured above), the founder of SPANX. At 29 Blakely invested her entire life savings, $5,000, trying to come up with something flattering to wear under her white slacks. Six months later the one-time Disney World ride greeter and door-to-door fax machine salesperson found her new line of shaping underwear named one of Oprah Winfrey’s Favorite Things. Since then Blakely has taken Spanx from a one-product wonder sold out of her Atlanta apartment to a powerhouse with $250 million in annual revenues and net profit margins estimated at 20%. (more…)

Happy New Year! Can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I blogged. Took a bit of a break. How better to begin the new year with a fashion tip illustrated by none other that King Bey! She’s already having an amazing year with her surprise, self titled album release. Beyoncé ushered in the New Year at Versace’s mansion in Miami. Wouldn’t it just be rude to be invited to the Versace mansion and not wear a hint of Versace? I love Versace! Still do their scarves every now and then…absolutely timeless. Seems like Versace is making a huge come-back. Bey paid homage with her all Versace errythang get-up. Hot Trend Alert: Giuseppe Zanotti Body Belt Necklace
You can always count on Queen Bey to be on top of the latest fashion trends. I would never have dared to wear a body belt necklace but Bey showed us how to work it in her ‘Girls Who Run The World Video’ last year. She pulled it off so effortlessly that we are now seeing it on red carpets and runways. Angela Simmons was spotted at New York Fashion Week in Manhattan hitting up a few shows including BCBG MaxAzria. Serena Williams was also spotted wearing a black dress combination with the gold neckpiece last year while attending the 8th Annual Keep A Child Alive Ball.

Beyonce Announces Pregnancy
Beyonce made a HUGE announcement while walking the red carpet of the MTV Music Video Music Awards tonight. She grabbed her stomach while telling the paparazzi that she and Jay are expecting. MTV Tweeted:
“OMG Beyonce just made a huge announcement on the #vma carpet! #baby!!!!!”
She also confirmed her pregnancy while performing during the show. Before she started singing ‘Love on Top Of Me’, she said to the audience, ‘I Want You To Feel The Love That’s Growing Inside Of Me’. As her performance wrapped, she threw down the mic, opened her jacket and rubbed her stomach while Jay-z and Kanye celebrated in the audience. Jay also turned to the stage and saluted her which made for a classic VMA moment.
Rumors of Beyonce possibly being with child sparked up weeks ago during her ‘4 Intimate Nights with Beyonce’ concert when she held her stomach during a part of her set during the second night of the series.

How to Wear Lace Front Wigs
Ladies, please take a look at the picture of Ciara above. That is how NOT to wear a lace front wig. Let me start by explaining what inspired this post. Quite frankly I’m scared. Scared for my Kenyan sisters who are notorious for copying trends without researching the trend. I went to my hairdresser this past weekend. She had on what she thought was a lace front. It looked like 10 dead racoons piled on top of her head. This same atrocious looking lady, tried to convince me to get my hair done just like hers. In her defence, she’s really good at what she does. So I chose to assume that she was not responsible for the mess on her head. I politely declined her offer and insisted on sticking to my same old comfortable style, which looks amazing if I may say so myself.
As with most things, it’s better to start with definitions. Simply put, lace front wigs are full wigs with mesh lace attached in front and beyond the “hair line” of the wig, which is custom fitted, trimmed, and temporarily glued to ones skin around the hairline. You can’t see where the lace starts or ends. The mesh lace also provides for natural looking partings in the hair. The difference between a full lace wig and a lace front wig is that full lace wigs can be parted anywhere throughout the wig, while lace front wigs can only be parted in a limited portion of the front. Kim Kardashian Finally Gets Engaged to Kris Humphries
Congratulations are in order for Kim Kardashian. She has finally found a man stupid enough to wife her up…with a 20.5 carat diamond ring! And this after only 6 months of dating!!! I never thought I would see the day. Reggie Bush was smart enough to get the hell out of dodge when Kim bought herself a 7 carat engagement ring back in 2009. Talk about pressure! Reggie is probably laughing up a storm with his boys somewhere. I mean what will Kris tell the kids? We’re famous coz mummy released a video of herself having sex with a man who is not daddy??? Unbelievable!!!
According to People magazine online, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, popped the question to Kim while on bended knee in the bedroom of her Beverly Hills mansion.
Humphries presented Kim with a custom-designed, 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond sparkler. “I just knew I wanted it to be big,” says Humphries, 26, who, with the help of Kardashian’s mom Kris Jenner, planned an intimate family celebration later that evening. (more…)
Beyonce Performs at Billboard Music Awards
That Beyonce reign just won’t let up! She tore the stage at the Billboard Music Awards on Saturday night with her performance of “Who Run The World (Girls)”. The performance, which began with Beyonce declaring “Men have been given the chance to rule the world but ladies our revolution has begun. Let’s build a nation women everywhere run the world!”, was filled with special effects and tons of dancers.
After she performed, her mother Tina Knowles and nephew Julez presented her with the first ever Billboard Millennium Award. During her acceptance speech, she thanked her mother and father for “teaching me about the music industry [and] about work ethic and drive”. She also thanked her former group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as well as the original members of Destiny’s Child. “I’d like to thank the original members of Destiny’s Child, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson.” Maybe now they can put the past behind them and work on that Destinys Child reunion 🙂
Her speech ended with a special thanks to her husband Jay-z who was smiling in the audience. “I’d like to thank my best friend. I don’t want to put you on the spot because I know they probably putting the camera in your face right now but I love me some Jay-Z“. Too cute!

Beyonce Covers Billboard Magazine
Beyonce graces the latest cover of Billboard Magazine, which was unveiled just days after it was announced that she would be receiving Billboards’ first ever Millennium Award. She is scheduled to receive the honor at the May 22 show, which will air on ABC at 8-11pm ET/PT from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Many haters people are speculating that she must have bought the award because it never existed before and they feel there are other more deserving legends for the Millenium Award. Oh well…you can’t please everybody right?
Inside, she reveals that her new album will be titled, “4″. She also discusses her decision to release “Who Run The World (Girls)”, her publicized split with her father Mathew Knowles and her thoughts on “Power”. Check out some highlights below:

Beyonce is Back on the Grind
All you Beyonce fans can now breathe easy. Your queen is finally back to work. God help us all! She hasn’t released a project since the 2008 release of “I Am…Sasha Fierce” which has sold over 7 million records worldwide but it seems she’s working on something major. Beyonce tapped into her seriously 70’s side for a brand new photoshoot in New Jersey. She and her team transformed an old motel into a set as she rocked an uber blonde ‘do, dark vampy lipstick, a wide leg pant one-piece, and a red shaggy coat. I don’t know about you but she’s giving me a serious drag queen vibe in these pics.
Beyonce and her people went full out with the makeup and wardrobe for this photoshoot. She worked it out with colorful luggge, even more colorful platform shoes, and an attention grabbing outfit at this old abandoned motel. Apparently she wants to re-invent herself for her upcoming LP and has recently enlisted London Producer Dave Taylor, aka Switch to produce some of the project. She told MTV last year: (more…)
Beyonce Gives Tips On How To Feel Sexy Around Your Man
Beyonce, who was spotted courtside at the Nets game, recently revealed that she loves to wear sexy stilletos for her man. I’ve never seen her in flats. I love heels but I only wear them for special occasions. My manual car won’t let me drive with sky high heels on my way to work. In the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, Bey gives women tips on how to feel sexy around their man:
You should put on good music and something that makes you feel great. I love a pair of high, sexy stilettos with a beautiful dress, but you have to find out what works for you – whether it’s doing the whole smoky eyes thing or a natural look. And never be predictable. Beyonce at the Grammys
Everyone thought Beyonce was hiding during the Grammys. She was not spotted on the Red Carpet at all. I think she was just trying to be a supportive friend to her BFF Gwyneth Paltrow who was performing “Forget You” with Cee-Lo. The two could have passed for sisters! They were both dressed in black, Christian Louboutin heels and similar blonde hairstyles. I think that was very selfless of Bey. No Jay-Z pics coz he did not attend 😦
Beyonce was also spotted in West Hollywood on Valentines Day in a little black dress and bright blue/green Christian Louboutin heels, being escorted from shop to shop (see pics after the break). After her shopping spree, she headed to Phillipe Chow in West Hollywood where she met up with former Destiny Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Solange and cousin Angie Beyince were also on hand as the ladies celebrated Kelly’s 30th birthday. So I guess that deads all the Bey and Kelly rivalry rumours. (more…)
Have You Always Wondered About Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Relationship?
I’ve always been intrigued by the relationship between Beyonce and Jay-Z. Somehow, the two have managed to keep everything about their relationship out of the public eye. Which just makes us want to know more. In the new issue of Ebony magazine, they are named as Music’s Most Powerful Couple. The issue also has 2 other covers: One with the Obamas as the Couple With a Purpose, and the other with Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker as Hollywood’s Most Passionate Couple.

Whistle Blower For Peace
Ciara was spotted at the airport as she headed home from her vacation in Miami. She wore a Falling Whistle around her neck in support of a nonprofit campaign for peace and aid for children in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, Falling Whistles. The child soldiers who are too small to hold guns are given whistles and are put on the front lines. Their job is to blow a whistle to let everyone know when the enemy is coming, so they are the first ones killed.
Falling Whistles is a small window into our world’s largest war.
Over a year ago, laying in Titu Prison, 5 boy-prisoners spoke of the whistleblowers.
Abducted in Congo and too small to carry a gun, boys were given merely a whistle and sent to the front lines of battle.
The sound of their whistles calling together was meant to frighten the enemy away. Failing that, their sole duty was to receive the bullets with their bodies. (more…)

From Beyonce’s Success Class 101, KNOW HOW TO BRAND YOURSELF. She’s serious about her money. She’s not like a regular woman. Many women think having a rich hubby automatically exempts them from excelling and from hard work. Granted having a husband is in itself a full time job, but you can’t tell me Jay-Z is not awe-struck by the phenomenon that is his wife. Bish is launching her second fragrance! That’s on top of everything else she has going like music (including tours), clothing line, family, etc. She’s a superwoman!
Beyonce is launching a new fragrance named Heat Rush, as a successor to the last year’s edition Heat. Her first fragrance was a great success and thrilled Beyonce’s fans. In February 2011, just a year after Heat, the new perfume is arriving on the market. (more…)

I admit when Dereon first came out, their style seemed ghetto which I wasn’t too happy about. But lately they seem to be stepping up their game. I blame all the bad choices on Mama Tina. Ladies, you always knew this day would come. We need to rethink our position when it comes to Beyonce. I know she has empowered many of you but enough is enough. As a woman, there have been numerous times when I’ve listened to a Beyonce song and actually felt like she knew what was going on in my life. Like my best friend even. You know all those “TO THE LEFT, TO THE LEFT” moments? Yes, they are a classic symptom of Beyonceitis. But ladies, the madness has got to stop.
